Middle to South Sicily Tour
Day 1
Enna
Notably, Enna is the highest Italian province capital, at 931m above sea level. Moreover, it is located close to the centre of Sicily and towering above the surrounding countryside.
For this reason, the ancient city has earned its nickname Belvedere (panoramic viewpoint). Ater the visit, we will make a brief refreshment stop, Then, we will take in the outstanding scenery. Indeed, on a clear day it allows you to see most of Sicily.

Piazza Armerina
Subsequently, Piazza Armerina awaits us.
Eventually, we drive through the heart of Sicily, taking in dramatic landscapes and various towns on the route.
On arriving at Piazza Armerina, we visit the Roman “Villa del Casale”. Above all, Piazza Armerina is home to the most magnificent Roman mosaics in Western Europe.

First of all, thanks to the landslide in the 12th Century, the mosaics lay beneath 10 metres of mud for 700 years. Thus protected them from the damaging effects of air wind and rain.
Then, in the 1950’s excavation works brought the mosaics back to life.
After the visit, time will be allocated for lunch. Moreover, your driver will advise depending on your requirements.

Caltagirone
Next, our journey continues to Caltagirone. Above all, the attractive hilltop town is famous for the handcrafted colourful ceramics.
Here we will visit the museum of ceramics. Then, we will stroll around and view some of the 120 ceramic shops. More importantly, those shops sell original pieces by renowned local artists. Afterwards, you can also wander around the perfectly manicured public gardens. Also, you can take a leisurely walk up the emphatic Scalinata di Santa Maria Del Monte (the town’s celebrated ceramic inlaid staircase).

Realmonte
After, our drive towards the Southern coast takes us to Realmonte. The city is close to the UNESCO heritage listed Turkish steps.
At the end of the first day, accommodation and evening meal will be arranged for you.

Day 2
Realmonte
To start the second day of the Middle to South Sicily Tour, you will spend the morning wandering these fascinating white step.
For the reason that they recently featured in the Montalbano stories, the place worth the visit.

Agrigento
We move along the Mediterranean coast to Agrigento the home of the temples.
Agrigento has one of the most important archaeological sites in the world “Valle dei Templi” or Valley of the Temples.
Part of the ancient city of Agracas, the Greek writer and poet Pindar described it as “one of the most beautiful cities of those inhabited by mortals”.

Today its former grandeur is still apparent in the valley’s seven temples of these.
The Tempio della Concordia (Temple of Concord) is one of the best preserved Greek temples in the world helping the site to gain the classic UNESCO world heritage award.

Journey Back – Winery
At the end of our Middle to South Sicily Tour, we will arrange a final stop at a renowned Sicilian winery.
