Following our shore excursion, we will visit Aci Trezza. This is a pretty fishing village 10km North of Catania. Also, here Giovanni Verga wrote his most famous novel La Malavoglia.

Catania
One of the liveliest cities in Southern Italy, Catania is a bustling town with a melting pot attitude.
Also, this Baroque gem is a vibrant and enthralling place. Moreover, there is a beautiful UNESCO listed historic centre. Finally, you will visit the Grandiose black and white palazzos tower over baroque piazzas and seething markets.

Catania – The Centre and The Duomo
Afterwards, we head for the centre of Catania.
During our walk down the famous shopping area, we will see the Via Etnea. Then we will see the luscious green Villa Bellini. And finally, we will admire the beautiful Duomo and experience the chaotic Fishmarket.

Aci Castello
Following, our next stop is Aci Castello. Here you will get some great photo opportunities of this fantastic Normans built castle. Also, you can take pictures of the picturesque fishing village.

Aci Trezza
Afterwards, we move onto Aci Trezza. This pretty fishing village is 10km North of Catania. Here we will see 3 large lave made boulders in the middle of the ocean Set on the coast.
According to one of many local myths, these great stones are the ones hurled by Polyphemus at Ulysses boat from the summit of Etna after being blinded in one eye by Ulysse.

Aci Trezza – Giovanni Verga
Also, Aci Trezza is famous for its love affair with the writer Giovanni Verga. Indeed, here he wrote his most famous novel La Malavoglia (The House by the Medlar tree). Upon request, we can visit a small museum relating to the book.

Journey back
On our journey back to the port of Syracuse we will have an ice cream stop.
