The Wonders of Syracuse and Ortigia
We meet and greet you on your arrival at the Port of Catania; our journey begins with a drive to Neapolis, one of the most ancient Greek cities in Sicily. You will have the opportunity to visit the archaelogical site, which contains the impressive remains of the ancient city and the still active Greek amphitheatre.
We move towards Ortigia, also known as Citta Vecchia, the old city of Siracusa separated by a narrow channel from the modern city. A boat excursion may be arranged to take you around the bay of Siracusa and circumnavigate Ortigia. The boat excursion is charged locally.
Time will be allocated for lunch; your driver will discuss your options depending on your requirements. After lunch we visit the Duomo and the Temple of Athena,
wander around the shaded, sandy coloured streets taking in the large baroque palazzos.
The piazza Duomo in particular is a majestic survival of perfect Baroque settings,
it includes columns from the Greek temple and must be seen.
Our journey back to the port of Catania will finish with an all-important ice cream stop.
Please note: This is a private excursion with a dedicated driver and vehicle. On receiving your booking we will contact you to arrange pick up time and any special requirements you may have.
