We meet and greet you on your arrival at the port of Siracusa. The journey from the port and along the scenic coastal highway takes approximately 1 hour and thirty minutes.
We drive to Savoca, this quaint 12th century Norman Fortress village offers breath-taking views of the coastline and is home to a convent containing some original catacombs. What Savoca really stands for is The Godfather.
Francis Ford Coppola filmed some of the most fascinating scenes of this timeless trilogy in Savoca. Follow the route that Michael Corleone and Apollonia took during their wedding, visit the amazing Vitelli Bar prominent in the film when Michael asks for Apollonia’s hand in marriage.
Enjoy a traditional lemon granita while perusing around the original artefacts from the trilogy. We move to Forza D’agro, this medieval village
perched high above sea level is typical of Sicily, with its cobbled narrow streets and many churches it made sense that Francis Ford Coppola would choose
Forza D’agro as an excellent film location. Our journey continues to Taormina, as we enter the historic centre via the famous “Via Pirandello”,
we stop at the “Belvedere” for a great photo opportunity. Take in the amazing bird’s eye views of Isola Bella “beautiful island” and the Ionian Sea. We move on and drive to the charming medieval village of Castelmola; this sleepy town is perched precariously above Taormina. A stroll around is a must, with its cool medieval alleyways and picturesque piazza commanding views of the whole countryside,
Mount Etna and the Ionic coastline. A visit to the renowned Turrisi Bar for some Almond wine tasting is highly recommended. On route back down to Taormina we will have a further photo stop opportunity. Madonna Della Rocca is a 15th Century church that has been carved out of a mountain, located just below the Saracens Castle you will enjoy an extraordinary bird’s eye view of Taormina and the Greek Theatre. On arrival in Taormina Centre you will have some free time to wander the historic Corso Umberto; this is the main promenade through the heart of Taormina boasting elegant designer shops and cute cafés and restaurants. Take in the botanical gardens, The Greek amphitheatre and visit the fantastic Cathedral and the Palazzo Corvaja one of the most elegant buildings in this chic town. We leave Taormina and head back to the port, our final photo stop at the panoramic Belvedere, offering breath-taking views it’s the ideal location to admire and take shots of the coastline and the fantastic Isola Bella.
