Etna and surrounding villages
This excursion is a full day adventure. You will be collected from your preferred location and your journey will begin. You will have the opportunity of experiencing Mount Etna and an insight in to how the surrounding villages have dealt with life beneath the most active volcano in Europe.
Our journey will take us through various towns including: Milo, Castiglione di Sicilia and Linguaglossa. Photo opportunities and refreshments breaks occur throughout the day.
On reaching 6000ft you will have the opportunity to take the cable car and 4x4 buses and reach an incredible 9500ft, alternatively you might prefer to leisurely visit the lower craters on foot.
For the lunch you may want to have a stop at a winery on the Etna slope for the Etna winen degustation accompanied by local products.
Our journey back down will include a stop at the honey production museum to see the honey making process and taste this local delicacy.
We will commence our descent back to sea level and make our last photo stop on the terraces above the Alcantara Gorges;
here you will see the surges and torrents of the River Alcantara which has cut a dramatic gorge between the cliffs as it made its own way down to the Ionian Sea. Prior to returning to your preferred drop off location an all-important ice cream stop is essential.
Please note: This is a private excursion with a dedicated driver and vehicle, entrance fees to archaeological sites ARE NOT included in the cost. All of our excursions and tours have been organised for pick up within a 10km radius of Taormina and Giardini Naxos. We would be more than happy to quote for pick up outside this area. On receiving your booking we will contact you to arrange pick up location, time and address or any special requirements you may have.
